Y’know even if a gay person doesn’t label themselves gay they’re still hit with homophobia. Trans persons still get hit with transphobia.
Oh, and POC still get hit with racism.
The funny thing about the *-blind rhetoric is that it only ignores the problems rather than work to fix it.
You do you, but it doesn’t work on a large scale.

I use labels to find people that are like me and have some of the same/related problems/struggles/etc as me, so that we can relate to each other and not feel alone. I’m glad you don’t need labels for that, but seriously, fuck you.
And so what if shit is complicated? Fuck being simple, people are fucking complex, not acknowledging labels isn’t going to fix that.

There is a difference between not acknowledging labels and feeling philosophically that labels should not weigh so heavily on social interactions and opinion. I really hope that this person doesn’t ignore labels and deny the impact they have. But I also hope that people who cling relentlessly to labels can understand that letting go a little bit can actually help alleviate problems caused by them. For example, when queer folks learn to see that “dykey genderqueerfab” and “homosexual maab” and “just trans kthnx” and other awesome, beautiful labels have the ability to all come together under “queer” (for those who like that term), they can see that they have a lot in common when maybe they didn’t think so before, that there is a place where they fit in with other who aren’t quite the same (but still find other who are in that same place), and/or that a lot can be accomplished without “in-group” bickering and drama. Respect and acknowledge labels, but don’t fuss over them to the extent of hurting more than helping. That’s the way I see it.
